About Us

GoGo Monroe is a textile design and manufacturing company created by sisters, Brigitta and Gloria, in Brooklyn, New York.

Brigitta and Gloria are from Estonia and lived in Finland for 10 years where they were heavily influenced by Scandinavian style, architecture, woodworking, and textile design. They often visit and keep being inspired by Scandinavia.

Throughout their childhood, Brigitta and Gloria were very artistic with drawing, painting, creating their own magazines, and coming up with their own companies and branding. Gloria was great at drawing and her drawings inspired Brigitta and made her laugh. They were a little reminder to laugh and not take life too seriously.

In High School, Gloria taught herself how to sew and play piano. She sewed purses, skirts, and her homecoming dress. She used to paint on shirts and make her own band shirts for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Broken Social Scene.

Brigitta and Gloria both attended the University of Florida for Finance. During college, Brigitta worked at a t-shirt screenprinting factory and started getting interested in screenprinting. She taught herself how to screenprint at home and started screenprinting repetitions of Gloria’s drawings onto fabric and sewing the fabric into purses. That’s how GoGo Monroe started as a handmade accessories company.

After college, Brigitta worked in Financial Technology for 10 years, working at Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, Neuberger Berman, and CLEAR as a Product Manager translating product requirements and user experiences into product vision and engineering execution. Brigitta’s experience as a Product Manager allowed her to create products that people loved and this work directly translated to creating products for GoGo Monroe.

Meanwhile, Brigitta was furthering her education in Graphic Design by attending Continuing Education in Graphic Design at Baruch College in New York, taking classes in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Typography; and taking additional classes in sewing, screenprinting, coding, UX design, Data Analytics, and Business Metrics, all of which assisted in improving the GoGo Monroe brand.
